MOUTH OF A RIGHTEOUS
Proverbs 10:11The mouth of a righteous man is a well [fountain]of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Proverbs 13:14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
THE WICKED HAVE NO FEAR OF GOD
Psalms 36:1,3 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
THEY DO NOT FEAR JUDGMENT
Psalms 119:120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; And I am afraid of thy judgments.
THEY FORGET THEY WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE
Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word [vain, thoughtless, useless word; a word that accomplishes no good] that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
FEAR OF NOT ENTERING THE KINGDOM
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a the promise being left us of entering into His rest (in the age to come), any of you should seem to come short of it
FEAR OF BEING BURNED IN THE FIRE AT THE END OF THIS AGE
Jude 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Matthew 13:40 "Therefore as the tares [that offend, and them which do iniquity; v.41] are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age (NKJ).
RIGHTEOUSNESS OR WICKEDNESS BEGINS IN THE THOUGHTS
Proverbs 10:20 The tongue of the just [righteous] is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
THINKING LEADS TO SPEAKING
Proverbs 12:5,6 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit. 6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
HAVE A PURE THOUGHT LIFE
Proverbs 22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
2Corinthians 10:5 Casting down[putting an end] imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
SPEECH IS FOR THE HEARERS
Proverbs 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
BRINGS FORTH WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE
Proverbs 10:31 The mouth of the just [righteous] bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Proverbs 15:7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
USING KNOWLEDGE ARIGHT
Proverbs 15:2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
LIP OF TRUTH
Proverbs 12:19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
PUT AWAY LYING
Ephesians 4:24-25 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
SHOW FORTH RIGHTEOUSNESS
Proverbs 12:17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
WHOLESOME TONGUE = EDIFYING WORDS
Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness [impure, unchaste, unsavory, and corrupt language] therein is a breach in the spirit.
UNWHOLESOME TONGUE
Ephesians 4:29,31; 5:4 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for EDIFICATION according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
TONGUE THAT BRINGS HEALTH
Proverbs 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
Proverbs 18:8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
COMFORTING, CHEERING, ENCOURAGING WORD
Proverbs 12:25 Heaviness [care, fear, sorrow] in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word [comforting, cheering, encouraging word] maketh it glad.
KIND WORDS
Proverbs 13:2 You will be well rewarded for saying something kind, but all some people think about is how to be crueland mean.
SWEET WORDS
Proverbs 23:8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
Psalms 64:3-4 Who whet their tongue like a sword[Cutting words or Defamation], and bend their bows to shoot their arrows[cruel remarks sting like sharp arrows], even bitter words:
PLEASANT WORDS
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
SOFT TONGUE
Proverbs 25:15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
Proverbs 25:15 Patience and gentle talk can convince a ruler and overcome any problem.
GRACIOUS LIPS
Proverbs 22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
LAW OF KINDNESS
Proverbs 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
SOFT WORDS AND SOFT TONE
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

CALM SPIRIT
Proverbs 17:27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

APPROPRIATE TIMING

WORD FITLY SPOKEN
Proverbs 25:11-12 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
GODLY SPEECH INCLUDES REBUKING WORDS
Proverbs 27:5-6 Open rebuke is better than secret love. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
FOR THE SAKE OF OBTAINING THE KINGDOM GLORY
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Revelation 19:13.... and his [the Lord Jesus] name is called The Word of God.
SO LETS IMPROVE OUR SPEECH
Proverbs 13:2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
Proverbs 10:6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
