The word saint

The Greek word used for SAINT is the adjective hagios. It means “separated ones” or “holy ones”. As an adjective it describes or identifies a quality or characteristic of a noun which it modifies. It is Strongs # 40. It is translated in the KJV translation as “holy” 161 times, “saints” 61 times, and “Holy One” 4 times.

JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS A SAINT

Mark 6:20

For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and holy MAN [hagios = a SAINT], and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

JESUS WAS CALLED A SAINT

Mark 1:24

Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy [hagios - saintly]One of God.

Saints live holy lives

1 Peter 1:14-16

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy [be ye a saint] in all manner of conversation [life style, conduct, behavior, or practical walk];

16 Because it is written, Be ye holy [be ye a saint]; for I am holy.

SAINTLY WOMEN

1 Peter 3:5-6

For after this manner (adorned with a meek and quiet spirit, v.4) in the old time the holy [saintly] women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

THE SAINTS ENDURE, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS,

& THE FAITH

Revelation 14:12

Here is the patience [endurance] of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus (see Heb.12:2).

THE SAINTS HAVE THE FAITH

Jude 3

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered unto the saints.

Saints hear the word of god

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

the things concerning the kingdom of God

Acts 8:12,14

12 But when they [the Samaritans] believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

The saints bless the Lord

Psalm 145:10

All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.

by speaking of the glory of the kingdom

Psalm 145:11-12

11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power.;12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.

THE SAINTS ARE SANTIFIED

1 Corinthians 1:2

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called ~~to be~~ saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

how are saints sanctified?

John 17:17,19

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

The truth of things to come

John 16:13

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

SANCTIFIED FOR AN INHERITANCE

Acts 26:18

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith (a life that pleases God) that is in me (Jesus, is “the word of God,” Rev.19:13).

ISRAEL OUR EXAMPLE

Leviticus 20:24

But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey (a type of the heavenly inheritance): I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people (sanctified by the truth).

THE SAINTS SHALL INHERIT

Ephesians 1:18

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints

The inheritance is a reward for service

Colossians 3:24

Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

THE SAINTS ARE REWARDED

Revelation 11:18

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

The inheritance is the kingdom

Matthew 25:34

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

THE SAINTS SHALL POSSESS THE KINGDOM

Daniel 7:18,22,27

18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

THE SAINTS SHALL JUDGE THE WORLD

1 Corinthians 6:2

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?

THE BRIDE IS MADE UP OF THE SAINTS

Revelation 19:7

"Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
