JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD

Mark 1:1

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

the Son of god is the king

John 1:49

Nathanael answered and saith unto him (Jesus), Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

SONSHIP IS RELATED TO RULERSHIP

Luke 1:32-33,35

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

the son of god is presently our high priest

Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession (of our faith, 10:23).

The son of God MUST BE revealed to us

Matthew 16:15-17

15 He (Jesus) saith unto them (the chosen twelve), But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

the holy spirit reveals HIM

John 15:26

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify [bear witness] of me (the Son of God).

A type in the Old testament

Genesis 24:65

For she (Rebekah, a type of the bride) had said unto the servant (a type of the Holy Spirit), What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant (sent by Abraham, a type of the Father) had said (he revealed to her the identity of Isaac), It is my master (Issac, a type of the Son of God): therefore she took a vail, and covered herself (she made herself ready).

The Spirit reveals to us things to come

John 16:13-15

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me (the Son of God): for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it (reveal it) unto you. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

The son of God has the words of eternal life

John 6:68-69 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

Eternal life is an inheritance

Mark 10:17 “…Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

THE INHERITANCE IS A REWARD FOR SERVING

Colossians 3:23-24

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men (that is living by faith of the Son of God, Gal.2:20);

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

THE INHERITANCE IS THE KINGDOM

1 Corinthians 6:9 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived…”

eternal life is in the age to come

Mark 10:30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time -- houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions -- and in the age to come, eternal life.

OVERCOMERS INHERIT

Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

OVERCOMING BY BELIEVING THE SON OF GOD

1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth [present, active, participle] that Jesus is the Son of God?

the knowledge of the Son of God

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God (the words of eternal life), unto a perfect man (mature, approved of), unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Whom we preach

Colossians 1:27-28

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you (the words of eternal life, the knowledge of the Son of God), the hope of glory (positions of honor in the kingdom):

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

The son of God destroys the works of the devil

1 John 3:8

He that committeth sin [practices the sin, which is lawlessness, v.4] is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested [revealed or made known], that he might destroy the works of the devil (lawlessness).

We can trample the son of God

Hebrews 10:26-29 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth (the words of eternal life, the knowledge of the Son of God), there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

ETERNAL LIFE IS IN THE SON

1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life (a life honor and glory in coming kingdom), and this life is in his Son.

ESTEEM THE SON OF GOD

1 John 5:12-13 He that hath [is esteeming or regarding] the Son hath [is esteeming or regarding] life (in the kingdom); and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life (inherited life in the kingdom age), and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

TO ESTEEM THE SON MEANS

1 John 1:7 “…we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have [esteem or regard] fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

live by the faith of the son of god

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

To seek eternal life

Romans 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.
