The churches purpose
Act 2:42 And they [the church] continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Webster's 1828 - FELLOWSHIP, n. 1. Companionship; society; consort; mutual association of persons on equal and friendly terms; familiar intercourse.

Fellowship based on 'The word of life'
1 John 1:3 That which [The word of life] we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

The Word of Life
Philippians 2:16 Holding forth [giving attention, giving heed] the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Called unto the Fellowship
1 Corinthians 1:8 Who shall also confirm [strengthen] you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Fellowship with the Lord and King
Revelations 17:14 ...for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Present Fellowship
Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Keep His commandments
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Receive Grace to Strive & Labour
Colossians 1:28 Whom [Which] we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily [power].
Act 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Fellowship of his sufferings
1 Peter 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: [let him be your fear] and be ready always to give an answer to every man that that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

Mind of a Servant
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Paul desired fellowship with the saints
Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart [give, offer] unto you some spiritual gift [through teaching], to the end ye may be established [strong]; 12 That is, that I may be comforted [exhort] together with you by the mutual [one another] faith both of you and me.

MU'TUAL - Reciprocal; interchanged , each acting in return or correspondence to the other; given and received. Mutual love is that which is entertained by two persons each for the other; mutual advantage is that which is conferred by one person or another, and received by him in return. So we say, mutual assistance, mutual aversion.

The Philippians fellowshipped with Paul
Philippians 4:15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. 16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

Onesiphorus is an example
2 Timothy 1:15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. 16 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: 17 But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. 18 The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

No fellowship with deceivers
2 John 1:10 If there come any [deceivers] unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

1 Timothy 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;... 5 from such withdraw thyself.

No fellowship with works of darkness
1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

2Th 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

2Th 3:14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Don't forsake the assembly
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

God is well pleased with fellowship
Hebrews 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
