Enoch walked with God
Genesis 5:21-22 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
One’s walk has to do with one’s choices
1 Kings 11:31,33 “…for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel… 33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father
To walk with another means you are in agreement
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
God is a holy God
Psalm 5:4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
Psalm 45:7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.
We cannot walk in darkness and fellowship with God
1 John 1:5-6 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him[agreement with Him], and walk in darkness [in sin] we lie, and do not the truth.
Disciples in dissent
John 6:60-61,66 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? [“Who can accept it?” Niv] 61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
You are like the one you walk with
Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Enoch walked by faith
Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
After Methuselah was born
Genesis 5:22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
969 years revealed that God was slow to anger
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The goodness of God
Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
No faith without hearing the word of God
Romans 10:17 “…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Future things revealed to us
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 “…as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 16…But we have the mind of Christ.”
The days before the flood
Genesis 6:5-6,11-12 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
A repeat of history
Matthew 24:37 "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be
Enoch was a prophet
Jude 14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints [holy ones – angels 2Thes.1:11], 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince [to convict, expose, or to prove guilty] all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
God took Enoch
Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
He was not found
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Only Jesus has ascended up to heaven
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
Translated unto death
Acts 7:15-16 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, 16 And were carried over [translated or removed] into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
Enoch lived 365 years period!
Genesis 5:23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
All died in faith – including Enoch
Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
The prophets die
Zechariah 1:5 Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
The promise of resurrection glory
Revelation 3:4 "You have a few names even in Sardis (in the church) who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white [“…fashioned like unto his glorious body,” at the resurrection Phil.3:21], for they are worthy.
