Text: - Hebrews 11:17-19 By faith Abraham, when he was tried [tempted], offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Trials test if our faith is alive
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works [evidence & substance] is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works [evidence], when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Remember the purpose of trials
Deuteronomy 8:2 And thou shalt remember [the training] all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble [character] thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

God disciplines all His son
Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Change your perspective on trials
1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Ready and eager to be examined
Psalm 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Option one - Fall away
Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Option two - endure
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Count on God to be faithful
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Abraham trusted God
Genesis 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Psalm 115:11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
Abraham feared God
1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

Abraham PROVED that he loved God more than his son
Genesis 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

Obedience is everything to God
1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Abraham REASONED that God will raise Isaac back to life
NIV Hebrews 11:19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.

Unreasonable don’t have faith
2 Thessalonains 3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

Blessing of obedience
Genesis 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Consider the end of your trial
Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Results of our trials will not perish
1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
