Revelation 3:1–3 (ESV)

1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. “ ‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

2 Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.

3 REMEMBER, then, WHAT YOU RECEIVED AND HEARD. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.

4 Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments, and they will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.

5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

Judges 3:7 So the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. THEY FORGOT THE LORD THEIR GOD, and served the Baals and Asherahs.

Jeremiah 2:32 Can a virgin forget her ornaments, Or a bride her attire? Yet MY PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN ME days without number.

Hebrews 2:1–3

1 Therefore [looks back to Heb.1:14 – inheriting salvation] WE MUST GIVE THE MORE EARNEST HEED TO [strict attention – not forgetting – remembering] THE THINGS WE HAVE HEARD (in the church), lest we drift away.

2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,

3 how shall we [under the gospel of Jesus Christ] escape [judgment] IF WE NEGLECT SO GREAT A SALVATION, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

BBE to give attention to the things which have come to our ears,

ESV we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard,

NLT we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

Psalm 139:14 I will praise You, FOR I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Psalm 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks?

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

1 Corinthians 15:1–2

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also YE ARE SAVED, IF YE KEEP IN MEMORY WHAT I PREACHED UNTO YOU, unless ye have believed in vain.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto [leading to] salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

1 Corinthians 1:18, 21 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are [being] saved it is the power of God. 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

1 Peter 1:9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

Romans 11:21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him [perfect active participle], IF YE CONTINUE IN MY WORD, then are ye my disciples indeed;

2 Peter 1:12–15

12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.
