Series:

Matthew 11:27ALL THINGS have been delivered to Me BY MY FATHER,

John 8:28Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but AS MY FATHER TAUGHT ME, I SPEAK THESE THINGS.

John 15:15No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for ALL THINGS THAT I HEARD FROM MY FATHER I HAVE MADE KNOWN TO YOU.

John 9:28Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but WE ARE MOSES’ DISCIPLES.

John 5:24“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears MY WORD, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 8:51“Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps MY WORD he shall never see death.”

John 8:31–32Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in MY WORD, you are My disciples indeed. 32And YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH, and the truth shall make you free.”

Matthew 17:3And behold, MOSES and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.5While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED. HEAR HIM!”8When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but JESUS ONLY.

Acts 3:22–23For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. HIM YOU SHALL HEAR IN ALL THINGS, WHATEVER HE SAYS TO YOU. 23And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

Hebrews 1:1–2God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2has in these last days SPOKEN TO US BY HIS SON,

Luke 16:16“The law and the prophets WERE UNTIL JOHN. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

Luke 5:33–39Then they said to Him, “Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees [Old Covenant], but Yours [New Covenant] eat and drink?”

34And He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?

35But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.”

36Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one [no mixing of OC with NC]; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old.

37And no one puts new wine [New Covenant] into old wineskins [Old Covenant]; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.

38But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

39And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’ ”

Luke 4:16So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as HIS CUSTOM was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Luke 2:27So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to THE CUSTOM OF THE LAW,

Luke 2:42And when He became twelve, they went up there according to THE CUSTOM OF THE FEAST;

Exodus 20:10but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it YOU SHALL DO NO WORK:

Acts 17:2-3Then Paul, as HIS CUSTOM was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying,This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”

Luke 23:56Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And THEY RESTED ON THE SABBATH according to the commandment.

Matthew 12:1–14

1At that time Jesus went through the grain fields ON THE SABBATH. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.

2And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!”

3But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:

4how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was NOT LAWFUL for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?

5Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple PROFANE THE SABBATH, and are blameless?

6Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple.

7But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned THE GUILTLESS.

8For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

9Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue.

10And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—that they might accuse Him.

11Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?

12Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore IT IS LAWFUL TO DO GOOD ON THE SABBATH.”

13Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other.

14Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.

John 5:5–18

5One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.

6When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”

7The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”

8Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.”

9And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.

10So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”

11But he answered them, “The man who healed me, that man said to me, ‘Take up your bed, and walk.’ ”

12They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?”

13Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place.

14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.”

15The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.

16And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, BECAUSE HE WAS DOING THESE THINGS ON THE SABBATH.

17But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”

18This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because NOT ONLY WAS HE BREAKING THE SABBATH, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Jeremiah 17:21–22Thus says the Lord: “Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; 22nor carry a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day, nor do any work, but hallow the Sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.

Matthew 5:17–18“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but TO FULFILL. 18For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is FULFILLED.

Luke 16:16“The law and the prophets WERE UNTIL JOHN. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

Galatians 3:19Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, UNTIL THE SEED SHOULD COME to whom the promise had been made.

Luke 24:44-45 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be FULFILLED which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”45Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,
