James 1:14–15
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

1 Peter 4:1-2
1 Christ suffered here on earth. Now you must be ready to suffer as he did, because suffering shows that you have STOPPED SINNING.
2 It means you have turned from your own desires and want to obey God for the rest of your life. (CEV)

9 WHOM RESIST stedfast in the faith [the word of God], knowing that the same afflictions [or SUFFERINGS] are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:10
10 And after you have SUFFERED for a little while [resisting the devil and his temptations], the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
