Jesus was called "the teacher"
John 1:38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi" (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), "where are You staying?"
 
John 3:2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."
 
John 11:28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher has come and is calling for you."
 
Teachers have disciples
Mark 2:18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast
 
John 9:28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
 
Teacher/disciple relationship was a personal relationship
Matthew 9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
 
Mark 14:14 "Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?" '
 
Disciples followed the teacher
Matthew 8:19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go."
Matthew 8:23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
Matthew 9:9 As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So he arose and followed Him.
Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
John 1:43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, "Follow Me."
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

Make disciples is the command
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
 
Fishers of men
Matthew 4:19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
 
The promise of the Holy Spirit
Matthew 28:20 "…I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
 
Power for the church
Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
 
Jesus is with the church through the Holy Spirit
John 14:16-18 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever -- 17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
John 15:26-27 " But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 "And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
 
The first step in making disciples = BAPTISM
Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
 
Jesus made disciples by baptizing them
John 3:22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptized.
John 3:26 And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified -- behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!"
John 4:1-2 Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John 2 though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples
 
Faith and Baptism = the rite of initiation into the Church
Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
 
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church:
 
Baptized into one body
1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 27 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ. 13 For in one Spirit [Jn.16:13] were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit. 27 Now you [church at Corinth] are the body of Christ, and members individually.
 
Believing – baptized – church – saved
Acts 2:40-41, 44, 47 And with many other words he [Peter] testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation."41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common 47 …the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
 
Hebrews 5:9 He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
 
The disciples = the church
Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said,
 
A covenant relationship
Ephesians 5:23, 25, 26 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 in order to make her holy, cleansing her with the baptismal water by the word (WNT).

New covenant made with the church
Luke 22:20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
Luke 22:28-29 "And you are those who have stood by Me in My trials; 29 and I covenant to give you, as my Father has covenanted to give me, a Kingdom (WNT)
 
 
Baptism is the new covenant outward sign!
Colossians 2:11-12 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
 
Baptism and His blood
Colossians 1:14 In whom [how? baptized into Christ] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
 
Colossians was written to those baptized into Christ
Colossians 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse:
 
The Blood is associated with His death on the cross
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross
 
Baptized into His death
Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
The church = the disciples
Acts 11:26 "…they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
 
Acts 14:27-28 Now when they [Paul and Barnabus] had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. 28 So they stayed there a long time with the disciples.
 
Acts 18:22-23 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up and greeted the church, he went down to Antioch. 23 After he had spent some time there, he departed and went over the region of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
 
Acts 20:28-30 "Therefore take heed to yourselves ["the elders of the church" v.17] and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood [the blood is related to the church]. 29 "For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 "Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
