James 1:1 – INTRODUCTION TO THE LETTER OF JAMES

James 1:1James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

James 3:1My brethren, be not many masters [″teachers″ NKJ], knowing that WE shall receive the greater condemnation.

JAMES THE SON OF ZEBEDEE

Mark 1:19When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw JAMES THE SON OF ZEBEDEE, and JOHN HIS BROTHER, who also were in the boat mending their nets.

Acts 12:2Then he killed JAMES THE BROTHER OF JOHN with the sword.

JAMES THE SON OF ALPHAEUS

Matthew 10:3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; JAMES THE SON OF ALPHAEUS, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

JAMES THE LESS or THE YOUNGER

Mark 15:40There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of JAMES THE LESS and of Joses, and Salome,

JUDAS THE SON OF JAMES

Luke 6:13–16

13And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:

14Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;

15Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot;

16JUDAS THE SON OF JAMES, and Judas Iscariot who also became a traitor.

JAMES, THE LORD’S BROTHER.

Jude 1Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and BROTHER OF JAMES, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

Luke 2:7And she brought forth HER FIRSTBORN SON, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Matthew 1:24–25When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25but knew her not UNTIL she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Matthew 13:55Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And HIS BROTHERS JAMES, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

Mark 6:3Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and BROTHER OF JAMES, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

1 Corinthians 9:5Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, THE BROTHERS OF THE LORD, and Cephas?

Mark 3:21And when HIS FAMILY heard it, they went out to seize him [Jesus], for they were saying, “HE IS OUT OF HIS MIND.”

John 7:5For even HIS BROTHERS did not believe in Him.

Acts 1:14All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS, AND HIS BROTHERS.

1 Corinthians 15:7After that He [Jesus] was seen by JAMES, then by all the apostles.

Galatians 1:19But I saw none of the other apostles except JAMES, THE LORD’S BROTHER.

Galatians 2:9and when JAMES, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be PILLARS, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Acts 12:17But motioning to them with his hand to keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Go, tell these things to JAMES and to the brethren.” And he departed and went to another place.

Acts 21:18On the following day Paul went in with us to JAMES, and all the elders were present.

JAMES OF ACTS 15 COMPARED WITH THE BOOK OF JAMES

Acts 15:25It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with OUR BELOVED Barnabas and Paul,

James 1:16Do not err, MY BELOVED BRETHREN.

James 1:19Wherefore, my BELOVED BRETHREN, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Acts 15:13And after they had held their peace, JAMES ANSWERED, saying, Men and BRETHREN, HEARKEN UNTO ME:

James 2:5HEARKEN, my BELOVED BRETHREN, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Acts 15:19Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are TURNING to God,

James 5:19–20Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone TURNS him back, 20let him know that he who TURNS a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Acts 15:14Simeon hath declared how God at the first did VISIT the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

James 1:27Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to VISIT the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Acts 15:24Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting YOUR SOULS, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

James 1:21Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save YOUR SOULS.
