Series:

Acts 17:2–3Then Paul, AS HIS CUSTOM WAS, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”

Exodus 31:16Therefore THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL SHALL KEEP THE SABBATH, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations AS A PERPETUAL COVENANT.

Exodus 34:27–28Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I HAVE MADE A COVENANT WITH YOU AND WITH ISRAEL.” 28So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And HE WROTE ON THE TABLETS THE WORDS OF THE COVENANT, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

Hebrews 9:1–4

1Now even THE FIRST COVENANT had regulations for worship and an earthly place of holiness.

2For a tent was prepared, the first section, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence. It is called the Holy Place.

3Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place,

4having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron’s staff that budded, and THE TABLETS OF THE COVENANT.

Deuteronomy 5:15And remember that YOU WERE A SLAVE IN THE LAND OF EGYPT, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded YOU TO KEEP THE SABBATH DAY.

Galatians 5:2-4Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision [or keeps the Sabbath], that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. 4You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

Hebrews 8:7For if that first covenant[the law] had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second [new covenant].

Galatians 3:17-19

17This is what I mean: THE LAW, which CAME 430 YEARS AFTERWARD[after Abraham], does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void.

18For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

19What, then, was the purpose of THE LAW? IT WAS ADDED because of transgressions UNTILTHE SEED[Christ] to whom the promise referred HAD COME. The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator.

Deuteronomy 5:2–3The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive.

Romans 6:14For sin shall not have dominion over you, for YOU ARE NOT UNDER LAW but under grace.

Romans 7:4Therefore, my brethren, you also have become DEAD TO THE LAW through the body of Christ, that you may be MARRIED TO ANOTHER—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.

Romans 10:4For CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Galatians 2:21I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Galatians 3:24–25Therefore THE LAW WAS OUR TUTOR to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25But after faith has come, WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER A TUTOR.

Ephesians 2:14–15

14For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,

15HAVING ABOLISHED IN HIS FLESH THE ENMITY, THAT IS,THE LAW of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,

16and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body THROUGH THE CROSS, thereby PUTTING TO DEATH THE ENMITY.

Galatians 3:11But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”

Romans 3:28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

Hebrews 8:13When he speaks of a new covenant, he makes THE FIRST OBSOLETE. Now what is growing obsolete and aging is about to disappear.

Colossians 2:14–17

14Blotting out THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day (yearly observance), or of the new moon (monthly observance), or of THE SABBATH DAYS (weekly observance):

17WHICH ARE A SHADOW of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

1 Chronicles 23:31and at every presentation of a burnt offering to the Lord on the Sabbaths and on the New Moons and on the set feasts, by number according to the ordinance governing them, regularly before the Lord;

Nehemiah 10:33for the showbread, for the regular grain offering, for the regular burnt offering of the Sabbaths, the New Moons, and the set feasts; for the holy things, for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and all the work of the house of our God.

Ezekiel 45:17Then it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, at the feasts, the New Moons, the Sabbaths, and at all the appointed seasons of the house of Israel. He shall prepare the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings to make atonement for the house of Israel.”

Hosea 2:11I will also cause all her mirth to cease, Her feast days, Her New Moons, Her Sabbaths— All her appointed feasts.

Hebrews 8:4–5Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are PRIESTS who offer gifts ACCORDING TO THE LAW. 5THEY SERVE A COPY AND SHADOW of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.”

Hebrews 10:1For THE LAW, having A SHADOW of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same SACRIFICES, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.

Galatians 4:9–11But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to THE WEAK AND BEGGARLY ELEMENTS, to which you desire again to be in bondage? 10YOU OBSERVE DAYS and months and seasons and years. 11I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.

Romans 14:4–6Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5One person ESTEEMS ONE DAY AS BETTER THAN ANOTHER, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.
